Coma - with associated symptoms
A state of unconsciousness with no reaction to external stimuli or internal needs which requires the use of life support systems for a period of 72 hours.
Changes from the previous definition
We've changed the period of 96 hours needed for life support to 72 hours.

A state of unconsciousness with no reaction to external stimuli or internal needs which requires the use of life support systems for a period of 96 hours.
Changes from the previous definition
We've removed the need for associated permanent neurological deficit with persisting clinical symptoms and instead have added the use of a life support system for a period of 96 hours.

A state of unconsciousness with no reaction to external stimuli or internal needs with associated permanent neurological deficit with persisting clinical symptoms.
For the above definition, the following are not covered:
- medically induced coma.
