Hear Director of Investment for Royal London Asset Management, Nersen Pillay, speak on 'Investing by the Clock'. Joined by Senior Business Development Manager, Craig Muir who will present 'Workplace Pensions - A Twist in the Tale'.
The last decade has seen huge developments in sustainability across much of the globe, and this is having a growing influence on the way investments are managed. The key change has been a growing acceptance that applying ESG factors and looking at sustainable themes can be beneficial for returns – it doesn’t require investors to make costly choices. But what do the coming years have in store? Mike Fox examines how he thinks sustainability will develop over the next coming years.
Mike Fox - Head of UK Sustainable Investments, RLAM
Mike is Head of Sustainable Investments at Royal London Asset Management, and has been the Fund Manager of the Sustainable Leaders, World and Diversified Trusts since 2003. Prior to this, Mike worked as a Deputy Fund manager at the Co-operative employee pension fund for two years and an investment analyst covering the utility, support services and media sectors. He originally trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and has spent the majority of his career assessing environmental, social and governance issues and how they influence investment decisions. He is a specialist in sustainable investing and one of the few fund managers in this area with such long tenure.
Did you know that Oxford Dictionary’s word of 2019 was ‘climate emergency’? OK, that’s two words but all of the extreme weather events across the globe coupled with the extinction rebellion protests have put environmental issues, climate change and sustainability right at the top of the world’s news agenda. In parallel, we’ve also witnessed responsible investing quickly becoming part of the global mainstream.
This presentation starts by looking to the future and the impending regulatory changes that are likely to drive environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing right into the heart of the advice process as well as tackling all of the confusing labels and myths about responsible investing. We’ll also take a look at some of the global initiatives pushing sustainable finance further into the spotlight and discuss the opportunities this is creating within the advised market.
The presentation also covers some practical steps that advisers can take today to start integrating ESG factors within the advice process as well as exploring wider responsible investing considerations.
