Unemployment Cover and Waiver of Premium (Unemployment) to be withdrawn

From 24 March we won’t provide any new quotes for either of these covers.

We’ve made the decision to remove Unemployment Cover and Waiver of Premium (Unemployment) from our Personal Menu Plan.

This means that with effect from 24 March we won’t provide any new quotes for either of these covers.

We will however operate our normal pipeline process and process any existing quotes and applications on the following basis:

  • Quotes done before the 24 March will be allowed to progress to an online application as long as that application is submitted to us before the last date the quote is valid to.  The last date a quote is valid to is shown in the important information section of the quote pdf.
  • Paper applications must be accompanied by a valid quote. The application must be dated before the last date the quote is valid to shown in the quote pdf and must be received by us no later than 30 April.
  • If you try to progress an application more than 30 days after the date of the quote, the unemployment covers will be removed and you’ll be given a message on screen to confirm this has happened.  You can still submit the application for the other covers that were previously chosen without starting a new application.
  • If you've already submitted an application to us, or you submit a new application, the plan must start within 90 days of the last date the quote was valid to or by 11 May, whichever is sooner, otherwise we'll remove the covers as part of our pipeline process. The other covers may still be able to continue to be processed subject to our normal requirements. Please contact your case manager for the requirements on each case.
  • If on or after 24 March you remove the unemployment covers from an application or quote before it is submitted, you’ll be given a warning that if you continue you won’t be able to add it back in even if the quote is still within its original 30 day validity period.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but we’ve decided to focus on other areas of our protection proposition that’ll provide greater value to our customers.
